Respite

A build up of cabin fever and bad behavior all around was put to rest, however briefly, when the temperature soared to 59 degrees yesterday. Before this lovely afternoon we had yesterday I was beginning to wonder if we needed to send these kids to boot camp. And by boot camp I mean locking them in the attic until March at the earliest. Our relief was pretty brief as it is now 40 and dropping and I think I just saw ice falling out of the sky. But now I have had a glimpse of Spring on it's way and I think this Florida girl can hang on.

A Good Start

I have gotten a slow start in the new year. I was in a frenzy making things during the holidays, and I loved it but I caught myself dreaming of sitting on the couch crocheting. So that is what I have been doing. I have a habit of starting crochet projects and losing patience, so I am trying to overcome that. And starting the year out with a finished project is the first step.

The pattern was something I improvised. My grandma made the girls scarfs for Christmas and she told me that the pattern was something she dreamed up... she told me what it was and I kind of used parts of that to make this. I made a quick little lining and hand stitched it in there.

As far as patterns go, I will change a couple of things for the next go around.  I used a super chunky wool yarn which made is come together quickly.

Sweet

To say that Juliana resents River is probably an understatement. Imagine my surprise when I witnessed these two things on the same day.

And then later in the day this.....

Ever since he got his new haircut she has been his buddy. She even told me she wanted to "get married with him"  I know that sounds crazy, but we do live in TN.

Sunshine

I realize my good fortune of getting to spend some Christmastime in Florida, but that does not make it any more fun to return to nasty weather. The rain came complete with an extra day off from school due to flooding. But today the sun was back.

The little guy got a haircut.  Hopefully, I will have some crafty things to report in the near future. I kind of got sucked into reading Twilight which was fun reading, if you are into teenage vampire romance type things. I am holding off on reading the sequels until I get some creative work done.
