The
Fourth of July was a crazy day around the Crackerbox. A quick attempt
to mow the grass to make way for a home pyrotechnics show ended up with
me at the doc in a box with around 40 or so bee stings. I'm am still
thanking God that my neighbors were outside to help me and that my sweet
friend Dave came to my rescue to help me get to the doctor and take
care of the kids. He also stuck around while I was feeling very sick to
make sure I was okay and that the kids had some 4th of July fun. I
call him a hero.
Phase 2 heroes are Mr
Conrad and my Dad who spent a solid week of super hot afternoons
getting rid of the bees and teaching me and the kids about bees and
honey.
We knew the bees were there and
we had been coexisting just fine until that day. Well to make a long
story short...I'm fine...not allergic...bees are gone...people are so
nice...lost the lawn mower key...one was given to me that worked by a
total stranger...we harvested lots and lots of honey.
I
took way too many pics to post here, but I think I am going to make a
set on flickr, because the process of getting them out was fun to watch
for me and the kids and think would be interesting to other people too.

Also...shameless self promotion right here at the end....
The towel at the top of the page is on sale now at my Etsy site.
I am slowly trying to fill the Etsy store with goodies that I make.
You can link to it at the top of the blog.
